The everyday annoyances of life cause us varying levels of stress. Chronic stress can affect our physical and mental well-being. Keeping stress levels under control and managing it well is therefore important. The first step to do so is to measure stress. Dozee calculates and quantifies your stress levels with high accuracy using an important clinical parameter called Heart Rate Variability (HRV).
What is HRV?
Heart Rate Variability or HRV is the physiological phenomenon of the variation in the time interval between consecutive heartbeats in milliseconds. High HRV is an indication of cardio-vascular health, fitness, willpower and ability to handle stress. Low HRV on the other hand indicates chronic stress and fatigue. Measurement of HRV in health monitoring, training and recovery involves the analysis of the heart’s beat-to-beat variation.
How are Stress and HRV related?
HRV is an indicator of stress (mental, physical, hormonal, digestive, environmental) experienced by the body’s Autonomic Nervous System, comprised of Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous Systems. A higher HRV means lower levels of stress. HRV increases during relaxing activities such as meditation or sleep when the Parasympathetic System takes over. On the other hand, HRV naturally decreases during stressful situations equipping and alerting the mind and body to fight stressful situations.
How Dozee calculates HRV?
During sleep, the body is relieved of this stress. Dozee measures this stress on a scale of None, Low, Moderate and High. Dozee has high levels of accuracy and can detect every individual heartbeat using which the HRV parameters are calculated very precisely which has a direct correlation with stress levels of the person.
